2012 Mel Kenyon Midget Series
The 2012 Mel Kenyon Midget Series is fast approaching and now is the time to make plans to participate.
The Mel Kenyon Midget Series will utilize a spec Midget formerly called Kenyon Midgets and is the only car that is allowed to compete. These cars have an 1183 cc Yamaha engine that is basically stock and is sealed.
These cars and engines are built for safety and reliability and engines, if properly maintained, can go 60 to 70 races before being overhauled.
There are cars on the market for sale in the $6,000 to $7,000 range. 3-K Racing and Don Kenyon have cars that are race ready for sale, for rent and for lease. All cars come with spares.
3-K Racing will also conduct driving schools and Try-Drives at the Speedrome as soon as their 2011 racing season is completed.

USSA Announces the 2012 Indianapolis Speedrome Challenge for the Mel Kenyon Midget Series
(Lebanon, IN) United States Speed Association officials are pleased to announce the creation of the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome Challenge for the Mel Kenyon Midget Series for the 2012 racing season. The eight race 2012 partnership with the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome marks the first time USSA has sanctioned racing at the storied racing facility on the east side of Indianapolis.
The Mel Kenyon Midget Series Indianapolis Speedrome Challenge will feature the cars formerly known as Kenyon Midgets racing on the always competitive 1/5 mile oval. The first event for the series at the historic race track will be on Saturday April 25th.
“Everyone at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome is proud to welcome the United States Speed Association to the track and are looking forward to their races on the 2012 Speedrome Schedule,” commented Joel Cohen, promoter at the Indianapolis Speedrome.
“When we return to the Indianapolis Speedrome on April 25th, it completes the circle for the Mel Kenyon Midget Series,” said USSA President Don Kenyon. “Not only will we introduce the Mel Kenyon Midget Series at the Speedrome, we ran our first Kenyon Car races there, and Mel and I have had great success racing at the Speedrome,” Kenyon continued.
The Mel Kenyon Midget Series cars are both fast and reliable. “If you’re looking for an affordable place to race, the Mel Kenyon Midget Series at the Indianapolis Speedrome is going to be the right fit for you,” said Eric Bunn, USSA’s VP and Competition Director. “The cars are so affordable from the buy in cost to maintenance, that your cost to go racing is the same or in many cases less that most of the other options out there - the perfect open wheel car for the Speedrome!” Bunn explained.
Following the first race of the 2012 Indianapolis Speedrome Challenge for the Mel Kenyon Midget Series on Saturday April 21, the series will return to the Bryant Heating and Cooling Indianapolis Speedrome for seven more 2012 dates: Saturday May 12, Friday May 25, Friday June 15, Friday June 29, Friday July 13, Friday July 27 and close out the summer at Track Championship night for the Indianapolis Speedrome Challenge for the Mel Kenyon Midget Series on Friday August 3.
