Armstrong, Wilsdon, and Welch Take DK Promotions Wins at Anderson

            Caleb Armstrong, Adam Wilsdon, and Dillon Welch were the big winners at the DK Promotions races at the Anderson Speedway on Friday night.

            In the 30-lap regional midget feature, Caleb Armstrong jumped into the lead at the start of the race.  Just past the halfway point, Caleb came under fire from Plymouth winner Alison MacLeod who made a run in the fourth turn but could not get past.  Just as it looked like Caleb was going to be able to cruise to the win in front of a fierce battle between 2009 race winners MacLeod, Jeremy Warren, and Kyle Hamilton, the caution would fly with just a few laps left as his cousin Dakoda spun in turn four.  In the ensuing dash to the finish the New Castle, Indiana pilot was able to hold on for his second victory this season at Anderson.

            In the 30-lap Ford Focus feature Adam Wilsdon led at the start.  Joe Liguori, winner of two features in the 2009 season, jumped into the second spot and gave chase through traffic.  Despite the pressure from Liguori, Wilsdon of Howell, Michigan would hold on to win in just his third Ford Focus race.

            In the 30-lap Kenyon Midget feature, Dillon Welch took the lead at the start.  Welch put his car exactly where it needed to be on each lap and not even a tense moment with a lapped car in turns three and four on the final lap could fluster the Indianapolis, Indiana driver who won at Anderson for the third time in four races this season at the quarter-mile track.

            Next up for the DK Promotions divisions will be another tripleheader at the Anderson Speedway on July 10.

MacLeod, Simpson, and Galloway Take DK Promotions Wins at Plymouth

            Alison MacLeod, Jimmy Simpson, and Grant Galloway were the winners on Wednesday night during the DK Promotions races at the Plymouth Speedway.

            MacLeod, who travelled nearly eight hours from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada to race on Wednesday, took the lead at the start of the 30-lap feature and was challenged early in the going by Kyle Hamilton.  The race’s turning point came near the halfway point as Hamilton encountered trouble in the second turn and slid into the infield grass.  Hamilton would continue but his victory chances were finished for the night.  From there MacLeod would have relatively smooth sailing on the way to the checkered flag.

           ;  In the 30-lap Ford Focus feature, Indianapolis, Indiana’s Jimmy Simpson took the lead at the start and was able to pull away from an exciting battle for second place between Joe Liguori and Jordan Pennington.  Pennington would get the better of that battle while Simpson cruised to his second DK Promotions win of the season, the other came at Illiana Motor Speedway on May 27.

            In the 30-lap Kenyon Midget feature event, Grant Galloway took the early lead.  Behind Galloway, a great battle was going on between Dillon Welch and Taylor Ferns.  Welch was able to take the position away from Ferns but looked like he would have no shot at the win until Dalton Armstrong spun in turn two and brought out the caution, setting up a two-lap dash to the finish.  On the restart, Welch tried to get a run on the outside but could not get past Galloway.  For the driver from nearby Lakeville, Indiana, the “home track advantage” came in handy as he the win in Plymouth was his second of the season with the first coming at Illiana .

            The next time that the three DK Promotions divisions are together it will be Friday June 19 at the Anderson Speedway for what should be an exciting and action-packed show.

Warren, Liguori, and Welch Win DK Promotions Races at Anderson

            Jeremy Warren, Joe Liguori, and Dillon Welch were the feature winners in the DK Promotions races Friday night at the Anderson Speedway.

            In the Regional Midget feature event, Jeremy Warren of Noblesvile, Indiana jumped into the lead at the start of the 30-lap event over Alison MacLeod.  Warren would go unchallenged in a non-stop grind to take the first victory of his career.  Warren was so jubilant that he took a insurance lap at the finish to make sure that he had completed the full distance.

            In the 30-lap Ford Focus feature, Joe Liguori of Tampa, Florida took the lead at the start and appeared to be headed for an easy victory until Michael May crashed on the front straightaway just past the race’s halfway mark. =2 0From there Liguori would have to hold off a charging Tyler Cottongim to take his second feature win of the 2009 season.

            In the 30-lap Kenyon Midget feature, Dillon Welch of Indianapolis, Indiana led early in the going.  Welch had a huge lead and it looked like smooth sailing until mid-race when disaster almost struck as he was lapping rookie Isaac Chapple.  Welch was able to shake off the scare and take his second win at the Anderson Speedway in 2009.

            The three DK Promotions series will be back in action on Wednesday June 10 at the Plymouth Speedway.

Olson, Simpson, and Galloway Score Illiana Regional Wins

            Brian Olson, Jimmy Simpson, and Grant Galloway were the big winners on Wednesday night during the DK Promotions event at the Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana.

            When the 30-lap regional midget feature went green on the half-mile at Illiana, Alison MacLeod jumped into the early lead for the second race in a row.  On a lap nine restart, MacLeod came under fire from and was passed by Brian Olson who moved into the top spot.  The most recent regional midget race winner Kyle Hamilton would not make things easy for the native of Puyallup, Washington as he hounded car #77 over much of the race’s second half.  A final lunge at the tape by Hamilton would not be enough as Olson took the victory.  The win meant that Brian Olson has won two of the last three regional midget features at=2 0Illiana Motor Speedway with a triumph last May to go along with Wednesday’s victory.  This almost undoubtedly means that Olson will be the man to beat when DK Promotions returns to Illiana on June 24.

            The scene was then shifted from the wide open spaces of the half-mile track to the tight confines of the quarter-mile for Ford Focus action.  On the start, Jimmy Simpson of Indianapolis, Indiana in just his fourth Ford Focus race took the lead.  Joe Liguori, feature winner at the most recent DK Promotions event at the Mount Lawn Speedway ran second and repeated closed the gap considerably entering turn three but could not make the pass.  Simpson was able to hold off Liguori’s advances and skillfully work through lap traffic to take his first career feature win.

            The night was capped off with the Kenyon midgets taking to the quarter-mile.  At the start it was Dillon Welch, winner of the opening round at Anderson, leading Dalton Armstrong, winner of the last two rounds.  Meanwhile, nipping at Armstrong’s heels for second was Grant Galloway of Lakeville, Indiana who finally got around Armstrong after a very spirited battle.  Galloway then set his sights on Welch, trying to find an opening to make his move.  Then just two laps from the end, Welch pushed up the track slightly off of the second turn to take the lead and the victory.

            Following round three of the DK Promotions season, Kyle Hamilton sits atop the regional midget points by nine markers over Dakoda Armstrong.  In Ford Focus competition, Joe Liguori is holding onto a two-point lead over Tyler Cottongim and in Kenyon midget points, Dillon Welch leads Grant Galloway by 75 markers.

            The next time the three DK Promotions divisions take to the track will be Friday June 5 at the Anderson Speedway.

Kyle Hamilton, Joe Liguori, and Dalton Armstrong take Mount Lawn Victories

            Kyle Hamilton, Joe Liguori, and Dalton Armstrong were the feature winners on night two of the 2009 DK Promotions season Thursday night at the Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Indiana.

            When the 30-lap regional midget feature went green, Canada’s Alison MacLeod jumped into the early lead and paced the field for the first six laps.  On lap seven, Kyle Hamilton of Danville, Indiana took the lead away and held on to take his first career regional midget feature win.  Dakoda Armstrong finished second, MacLeod came home third, Caleb Armstrong was fourth, and Mike Larrison rounded out the top five.

            In the 30-lap Ford Focus feature, Joe Liguori of Tampa, Florida took the early lead and was a ble to hold off a challenge from Anderson feature winner Tyler Cottongim and North Carolina’s Chris Lamb to take a wire-to-wire victory.

            At the drop of the green flag for the 30-lap Kenyon Midget feature, Grant Galloway ran off and tried to hide from the rest of the field of hungry drivers.  As the first half of the race wore on, it became apparent that New Castle’s own Dalton Armstrong, winner a night earlier at the Anderson Speedway, was reeling in the Lakeville, Indiana hot shoe.  Finally on lap 19 Armstrong was able to make a move and take the lead.  A late caution would give the rest of the competition another chance to wrestle the win away.  As the final laps clicked away, Galloway could get a run off the final corner but could not take the lead.  While Dalton Armstrong took the victory, Taylor Ferns was able to take second from Galloway.

            The next round of the DK Promotions season will be Wednesday May 27 at the Illiana Motor Speedway.

            The Kenyon Midget cars are back in action on Wednesday May 20 at the Anderson Speedway while the three DK Promotions divisions will be together on the same card on Thursday May 21 at the Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Indiana.
